Clarence and his campaign team were delighted to welcome Esther McVey, the Employment Minister, to Brighton to formally open his new Pavilion Campaign HQ in Old Steine. Esther - who was visiting the city on the day that she was able to annouce the creation of the UK's two millioneth apprenticeship since 2010 - was briefed on the progress of the Pavilion campaign and the fact that 2,000 apprenticeships had been created within Pavilion alone since the last General Election.
Esther, a friend and former colleague of Clarence when she helped him support the McCann family in 2007, said it was a real sign of how the benefits of the Government's long term economic plan are now tangibly flowing into commnuties across the UK, As the Minister of State for Employment, who attends Cabinet, she confirmed that she was committed to creating another 3m apprenticeships under the next Conservative Government, continuing to help young people onto the jobs ladder and, through the ongoing programme of welfare reform, getting more and more people into work to give them the self respect and security of a good job and a regular pay packet.
After formally cutting a ribbon to open Clarence's office, she then met supporters before making a short speech and taking a Q&A session. (All pics: James Boardman Photography)
Esther's visit was covered by both the Brighton & Hove Independent and the Sunday Express
