Clarence was joined by Councillors and activists from across the constituency for a canvassing session in Preston Park this Saturday.
The team went up and down Beaconsfield Villas, talking to many residents about a number of local issues. Once again, there was a distinct feeling of disappointment in the Green party for their apparent lack of interest in the real needs of local people. One particular concern that kept coming up was parking. The extension of controlled parking will create overspill into the Beaconsfield Villas area, so residents will find it even harder to park than they already do.
Clarence said: "This was another great opportunity to hear about the general dissatisfaction that people are feeling over the spread of the Green's ideologically driven "anti-car" policies. We found real anxiety on the doorstep in Preston Park over high charges and the threat of parking overspill reaching them from the city centre. Many people welcomed our proposals to end rip off parking fees and to bring in sensible transport policies that will benefit both residents and business. Quite a few people also expressed satisfaction that the national economy was at last showing signs of growth under a Conservative-led administration. What's more, the sun also came out!"
